I totally forgot about my girlfriend's upcoming birthday monday, so I've screwed myself out of being able to buy something online and get it shipped in time.  She wants a good earphone/earbud to go with her music player/phone that she will mostly use at the gym.  Problem is I'm trapped into brick and mortar store shopping.  Best buy seems like one possible location, maybe target or walmart?  What do you guys recommend as the best available item I could find in a store in the ~$30 range?  I had good luck with sennheiser in the past but have trouble even finding some generic ones in that price range.  I'm kind of stuck here! Help if possible!

I've been able to find a Shure SE112 for $50 at guitarcenter, but other than that nothing reasonable near $30.
What does the community consider the worthwhile choices in this price range?

Just go to Best Buy and buy some that look good in the package. For a last minute purchase of $30 that's about the most you can expect. Don't leave Best Buy without a pair - pick *something*, because something is better than nothing!!

The JVC Marshmallows are great for working out. I used to wrestle in high school and I'd wear them for practice. They stayed in great, felt great, and were pretty durable. (Of course my ear shape is different)

The JVC Marshmallows are a great choice. I used them when I wrestled and they stayed in, felt great, and were decently durable for what I was doing. As for sound, obviously they dont sound anywhere near some high end earphones but for $15, they sound just as good as a $30 pair. So I'd recommend those and use the rest of the money to get another small gift as an addition.

Awesome effort unfortunately these seem to be online only in my area. Does anyone have experience with the shure from the first post? Maybe have to stretch it to $50 range. Not sure much about the brand but some people like the normal headphones alot. This revire seems to give pretty good praise. http://www.digitaltrends.com/headphone-reviews/shure-se112-review/
Any other contenders at $50?

I've never heard the Shure SE112, but Shure is one of the oldest and most respected names in head-fi, so they probably won't suck.

I still say buy whatever you have locally that looks good in the package. How about these? They are available at my local Target.

The Shure SE112 have good sound, but look butt ugly and are chunky. Try something from the JVC XX series for that price range/
