I just got back my replacement pair of e500s from Shure. The tip of one of the IEMs popped right off (it was still lodged in the flange). Incidentally, Shure was a pleasure to deal with for the warranty.

In an effort to avoid this in the future, I'd like to put the IEMs (just the earspeakers, not any part of the cable) inside of a sturdy holder for travel. My computer bag has a pocket for my iMod/amp, I just need some kind of a (perhaps pinch open) mini-case to put the IEM drivers in so that in case my bag falls on something, the tips won't break off my IEMs. I realize the safest thing to do is remove the whole IEM/cable and put in a separate case. Too much effort to take out and put back in, though.

Anybody have any creative ideas?

The pillbox case looks like it may work.

I've been using an Altoids Sours Tin to house my Sensas for the past 3 years, no problems whatsoever. You might try the Altoids tins for their gum, though I do not know how big the drivers (w/flanges) are for the e500.
