as per titles, need closed headphones(dont "need" to be closed, but can't leek a lot of sound) for rock music/gaming/movies in that order.

quick list
~$200
closed
no amp
rock music/ movies/ gaming
multiple headphones an option

looking for headphones for gaming/movies and a **** ton of rock music, preferably closed if possible. was going to get the a700's and a xonar dx, then was told they arnt to great @ rock music, and was suggested the sr-80's, but there not to great at movies/gaming i read. so was then going to get both, but then thought about it and there has to be a better option out there, and i would prefer closed not open if possible.

budget of about $300 for sound card and headphones

A900's look decent...
DT 770 are recommended

don't feel too bad. it seems you have to present some sort of "x v. y" comparison to get much interest. you may want to change the presentation of your question.

i think the denon d1000/1001 or audio technica es7 would fit your criteria?

They don't really, but to get them up to their top performance. Yeah!!!
But coming right out of an Ipod They reach quite loud enough. I'm not sure about your setup. I'm a Mac user and use what came with my MAC. G4 Mirror Door Drive. And the Dt770s BLAST out of my MAC. Ear shattering!!!
