In the future I may need some cans for home use, if I find the er4s to be too isolating and impractical for home use.

I sold my a900s because I found the bass overwhelming with a ppa. I do like the sound of the er4s, hd-600s, and K501, though I find the K501s not great for all types of music. And I'm not a fan of grado sound. And I listen to a variety of music from rock to classical to jazz.

I am considering both the hd-600s and DT-880s. What are the sonic differences between them? And are there any other cans that may fit me around this price range?

That's funny, I was just wishing today that my PPA/A900 combo had more bass for some songs... I turned on my PPAs bass boost, but it drowns out the highs a bit.

Hmm....actually based just on your first post, I would say you might be a good candidate for the CD3000. Take a look at them using the search engine, you might see that the impressions would fall in line with your preferences.
