Hey head-fi'ers,

I finnaly got a headphone amp to get the ultimate sound in the following order of importance:

1. Games
2. All other (Music, DVD, etc)

The amp i purchased has the DAC built in so i was going to run a TOSlink optical cable to the amp's DAC.

Questions:
1. What do i need to configure in my x-fi software or Windows Vista software to get the best sound? (i have seen a few things about kernal streaming but i am confused by it)

2. If i use kernal streaming will i still be able to use the windows volume control?

3. Will/should i still be able to use my x-fi effects like the crystalizer, EQ, etc.

I definitely want to use the DAC on the amp i just bought.
Thanks in advance for any help

The compenents i have are:
- X-Fi Fatal1ty with front bay optical out
- Sennheiser HD650s
- Headroom Desktop amp with DAC

Make sure the X-Fi is set to Audio Creation mode. Goto settings, and enable "Bit-Matched playback". Download foobar2000, and the ASIO plugin component. Set the output to Creative ASIO, and you should have a bit-perfect transport
