Hey guys, so I'm looking to purchase a pair of on-ear headphones. I'm done with IEMs, and on-ear somehow tend to hurt me.
Wish list:
Somewhat portable, I plan to use them when I travel to/from work in the train and use them at home
I'll be using my phone LG G5 as primary driver and PC at home (maybe laptop at work)
I have a smaller head so I want something that would sit securely on my head and not loose
Willing to spend about $100-120 Canadian (live in Calgary)
I don't care about looks, just want something comfortable and good audio
And I'd definitely want closed back, no leak in sound please
I have owned a pair of Sony MDR-7506s in the past, I didn't use them as much but they were super comfy but I gave them away, I dunno what happened to them but they became loose and I remember trying to wear on a flight but they won't seal at all, they were loose. Again I dunno how they opened that much, this was back in 2009
When I initially tried the 7506s in the store, I also tried a pair of M-Audio Q40s and I found them a little heavy so they won't stay secure, if I moved my head with some force, they would start falling
With that said, since I'm in Canada I don't have a lot of choice and availability. These are what I could find, but if you guys have one in mind let me know:
Sony mdr-7506
Status Audio CB-1 (I've heard good and bad things about them, lots of reviewers say they sound really good for the price and are comfortable, but the cheap quality gripes obviously. I couldn't find the Somic mm163 anywhere or V1s either. I dunno how these would fit me though, being too loose or not)
Audio-Technica M40x (They do seem to be larger than the 7506s maybe)
I see bestbuy canada sells some CAD and Superflux headphones which I have seen people refer on these forums
Please also recommend a chinese brand headphone too if they are cheaper and better than what is mentioned
Thanks!
