I have a Go-Vibe now and it just isn't cutting it for me. I've tried both the OPA2227 and AD8620. I prefer the 2227 but overall I'm just not very pleased, so I want to move up the ladder. Looking to spend about $150. I want something warm, tube-like, and smooth. I don't want even slight brightness as I can't stand it. Your thoughts?

I would keep your eyes open for a used Perreaux SXH-1. They seem to be going for around $175. I would also try to get the 0.5 revision, because there was a problem with the 0.3 revision humming. I haven't personally heard this amp, but, from what I've read, it fits your criteria and is a good match for the HD580.

Or, if you want a tube-like sound, you may be better off going with a tube amp, but I'm not sure what would be a good choice in your price range.

Do you like the signature of the go-vibe? I have a modded Classic ($150 new), that runs off batteries. I think its just great. Could be a decent fix if you can find someone willing to part with there's now that Norm is gone.

Not really. Well, at least not with the 580s. So I'm really looking for something new. I'm leaning towards the Perreaux. I read a couple reviews and it may be just what I'm looking for. Thanks anyway.

there was a really good review in a thread here in the past. I posted a link to it in another thread here today:

Or try a search for BADA as Subject in this forum - about 4 threads result:

They seem quite interesting.
