[Macmuffin]

I have a few pairs of headphones and a set of speakers. I would like to be able to switch witch one i'm using without having to pull my computer out. 
 
Does any one have any idea on how to accomplish this?

The Asus Xonar DG (PCI) sound card ($20-$30) can send headphone output (Headphone Surround Sound & Head amp) thru the computer's front panel headphone jack.
Just leave the speakers hooked to the DG's back panel.

Can't use the front panel because of the way the inside of my computers set up.
 
Do you lose any sound quality with a 3.5mm extension cable? maybe 3-6 ft??
