I've been researching for longer than I'd like to admit for a desktop DAC/Amp combo.  Everything seems to point towards getting the Asgard/Bifrost combo (for my price range) but I've heard good things about the NFB-10SE and to a limited extent the Furutech GT40.  I'm wondering if I could save some money by not going with the Asgard/Bifrost without sacrificing quality. Trying to put something together to support all of the genres of music I listen to with some emphasis on the low end.  I currently use the Audio Technica AD700 and M50 but am planning on purchasing the Denon D5000 within the next few months.  I listen to a lot of acoustic music, some pop, hard rock, a little electronic and hip hop and sometimes classical.

Tax return season is approaching.  Please help me spend it wisely!
