Hey all, I am right now having a hard time trying to decide between getting a EMU 0404 usb or a combination of a goVibe V6m and a sondigo inferno sound card (it uses the same chipset and DAC as the X-meridian, but is cheaper). The cans I plan to use on this set up are HD555, SR60, SR225 and DT770 05' version. I am curious as to how the amp on the EMU compares to a goVibe V6, and I am already pretty sure that the DAC on the EMU is better. Either of these set ups would cost pretty much the same (about $250 Canadian). So which one would you guys go for? oh and i don't need to use the govibe for portability at all.

I have not personally heard either one, however I would say it is usually better and often less expensive in the long run to put your money towards a better source first, then look into adding an amp later - particularly with the cans you listed.

emu 0404 is pretty good on both of its functions for the money...

question, are you on desktop or laptop? Also, you have sr225 and sr60, shouldn't you lose one

(expand your budget in process)

I am running off a desktop. yes haha I do plan to get rid of the SR60's once the SR225's arrive. Hopefully to someone in Canada, as Grado prices are jacked up here, and I would lose out more if i sold to the US.
