Hi guys,
I'm newbie here! Just want to say hi to all :)
Well, I moved down to Ohio for the job and live in an apartment now...
So, I'm looking for the tube headphone amp.
Which one do you guys recommended for it?
I have been search around and just thinking about the Schiit Lyr headphone amp.
Anybody has experienced with this one?
Thank you, Dan.

I have a Schiit Lyr. Very good amp with lots of tube rolling options. Great sound and lots of power.

The Lyr looks like a very nice amp. Check out the ALO Audio PanAm also. When or if I ever upgrade those are the two amps I would most likely consider.

You can't just plug any headphone into any tube amp... they just don't work that way.  To make an amp recommendation without knowing the headphone could mis-lead someone into a very poor performing setup.

With the wrong headphone, my 18V-OPA2107 cmoy sounds better than my Darkvoice 337.   A $50 amp out-performing a ~$550 amp, and thats not factoring in the current cost for the Tung Sol tubes I am using.

Thanks guys for some advices...
Anyway, I'm still new on headphone amp field and just bought some headphones now:
-Grado SR80
-Sennheirser HDR160
And I have one set of Stax SRM 252II with SR-003 ear-speaker.
My budget is around $500 for it.
Again, thanks for your comments.

I just bought a Schiit Lyr from a member here.
It sounds great!
I'm still searching around for the headphone to matched with this guy...
Cheer, Dan

HE500 if you can stand the weight.

I would seriously consider the ALO pan am.   It  is a recommended by some high end headphone manufactures like Audeze.   I owned one with upgraded mullard tubes and it was pretty amazing.
It also fits your price range and has a good dac built in.

Thanks for your advice :)
It would helpful if you can let me know between Hifiman HE400 vs HE500!
Since HE400 is a half price cheaper and they look most the same...

HE400 is really excellent for jazz and it plays nice with rock and metal too because of its forwardness. It's more comfortable than HE500 but still below average.

HE500 has a much better soundstage and is somewhat dark overall. It really stands out for its liquid vocals and plays classical well enough.

Thanks Claritas for your advice!
Its great to know the feature of each, I'd better choice the HE500, since my taste is vocal and classical :)
But I just read the new Hifiman HE400i is coming out that make me more interested about it...
