After a lots of thinking, I ended up ordering the USB-C version of the 7hz Salnotes Hero. I figured it would be easier to find good compatible 3.5mm cable, than USB-C cable with a mic.

But I am completely lost as how to pick a decent 3.5mm cable. AFAIK, the Salnotes Hero has a good cable already and I would ideally like to have something that is at least as good, and no more than the IEM. I heard that the original cable is a little bit on the stiff side, and I would probably like something that is a bit softer, without a earhook because I might buy some IEM that can be worn straight down in the future.

I have a few questions:

1. I would ideally like the cable to be versatile enough to use in other IEM using 0.78mm 2 pin, but I read that some IEM need recessed connectors (e.g. Moondrop Aria). If I was to get a cable with recessed connectors, would they fit properly on something like the 7hz Hero?

2. I've noted a few brands that comes up often (e.g. NiceHKC, ****, Tripowin, KBear), but their cable naming convention and the fluctuating price makes it hard for me to tell which is their low-mid-high end cable. Is there any database or easy to follow guide out there?

3. I don't want something that tangle easily, but I don't think that I would mind a relative thin, light (and soft!) cable. Does it mean that I should look at cable under a certain number of core, or is that a poor way to find what I need?

Thanks.

The Tripowin Zonie, about $18, is what I use with the Salnotes Zero:

Thanks. The Zonie was one of the first one I looked at too.

Then I thought that perhaps it would be more versatile to have a cable without earhooks in case I want to use it on an IEM that is worn straight down.

It seems that Yinyooo (wait, is it censored?) has a good reputation for bang for buck and they have some options without earhooks so I've narrowed down to two:

I'd say the cooper one looks more "premium" with the metal chin strap and fancier looking plugs.. but it is the other one that allegedly cost more without discount.

I don't care too much about the looks, but can anyone tell me if they are pretty much the same or if one is supposed to be "higher end" than the other?

Thanks.
