Hey guys! Came to this community for some help. I recently bought a pair of Sony MDRXB950BT without the original Aux cable. I found them online, however they are going for $55 on ecompassparts (Sony 1-846-746-41 Cable)

Is there a cheaper alternative available? My monster aux cables do not fit!

Thanks

That is a normal AUX connection. There are many cheap alternatives. Braided, flat, 90 degrees, straight, you name it! Here are a few:

If you mean the cable that's 3.5mm analog at both ends, this is probably the easiest type of cable to find.  I wouldn't understand why cables by monster don't fit unless it uses a different type of connection.  anyways an aux would be incredibly easy to find and you shouldn't need the original.  if you are really worried about getting a different cable, you can either test a cheap one or one from a friend before you purchase a high quality cable, or you can buy a high quality cable online and return it if it doesn't work with your headphones.  by any means, you would be able to get a higher quality cable at a lower price.  and while you're at it, try and find a good length cable that suits you best.

Did anyone find a solution to this? Have the same exact problem and looking to find replacement cable WITH a microphone. Seems ridiculous that the headphones have a weird locking mechanism that makes other cables difficult to fit. Not sure about mic capabilities with a headphone that did not originally come with a cable containing a mic, but I don't think that should be a problem...

Tried searching extensively, only came across this (which also didn't get resolved): https://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comments/3nxoca/getting_sony_mdrxb950btb_overears_to_work_with/

Could you describe the strange locking mechanism?
If you could get an adapter so that it's 3.5mm, you could purchase a cable mic like the v-moda BoomPro
http://v-moda.com/boompro-microphone/

A slightly higher end option is the Antlion Modmic
https://www.amazon.com/Antlion-Audio-ModMic-Attachable-Microphone/dp/B00R98JVVU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483633561&sr=8-1&keywords=antlion+modmic
The Antlion won't mess with cables, it has it's own cable.

I think the best option, if possible, would be to just get a desk mic, unless of course this is going to be used with a smartphone, then the BoomPro is the only option.  Or others like it.

If you're OK with a desk mic, look at items from Blue Microphones or Shure.

Hope this could help,

Hi everybody, I have a set of these headphones, with the aux cable! I am ordering a replacement cable off of Ebay, so when this cable dies i can using my headphones. ( I will put a link to the listing below.) So the problem here is one end of the aux cable has a little gray ring, it is not noticeable on here but it is smaller than the black ring on the other end. The aux port on the headphones is recessed, so the jack has to go in farther. This adds stability to the jack and prevents it from breaking. Sadly this feature will not accommodate a standard aux cable, which will not go completely in. So yes, this does require a special cable to work. I will include a link to one i found online, and to photos of it in dropbox (Link below. Sorry, the site wont let me upload photos.) I hope this helps.

Alternatively, i bought my headphones from best buy. They had the exact same issue, but a simply fix for it. They took a knife and spun it in the hole, making it bigger. They had to for the display to work. Doing that it will except any standard aux cable and work just fine, but not be pretty.
