Sound is so relative and subjective. Everyone hears things differently, and we all can come from a different reference point. So it would be helpful on here if people KNEW what our reference point was when using terms like bright, dark, neutral, and warm.
So please pick a few headphones from your specific reference point and classify them according to your personal opinion!

I'll start:

bright = anything Grado and most Beyerdynamic

warm = Shure 1540, Nad hp50

dark = Sennheiser 650, V Moda m100

neutral = Shure 1840, Shure 840, Audio Technica M40

So
A lot of people characterize the 400i as warm. Very interesting! Thanks.

I can see how people might say that about the 400i. However, when compared directly to the Sennheiser HD 650, which I consider to be warm, it is brighter by a considerable margin, though nowhere near the brightness of the Grado SR325is.

Dark and warm are difficult to differentiate, so I'll stick 'em together.

Bright: AKG K701, Beyer DT990, Many Grados
Dark / warm: Senn Momentum, Bose QC25, V-Moda M100
Neutral: HD600, Focal Spirit Pro, Senn HD-25, Audeze Sine (with Cipher they have a slight bass boost)

HD650 and LCD-2 are warmish, but somewhat neutral too.
