It will hammer a lot of modern amps. Nakamichi was a force to reckon with in its heyday and would go toe to toe with the likes of McIntosh and Krell.

Sorry to keep posting in this thread, but I wanted to ask again if anyone knows exactly what the output impedance of the TA-2A is? I know that pretty much any headphone I plug in that is less than 300 ohms is not going to sound the best if the output of this thing is 40 ohms (the 1/8th rule), which may be the case according to this manual: http://www.audio-labo-vallespir.org/nakamichi/ta2.PDF
