Has anyone use, or have tried a Nakamichi 70011 as a portable (suitcase) cd source unit? (this is a two unit...cd player/preamp...power supply...no amplifier...car head unit)

I am looking for a hi end cd player that can take lots of rough travelling. Driving down very rough roads...handled by luggage people, dust (one that parks the head automatically)

Any sugestions? beside the Nak

Nakamichi is a name that should be up there with the Gods of audio reseach. I would stay away now exept for classic equipment.

It's a car deck, how are you going to get it 12 volts? It looks like a great deck. I have a TD-700, the best car cassette deck ever IMO. I know about the 1200, but I like the 700 better.

I am looking at building a power supply.

Is there any other hi-end car head units out there?, does Mark Levinson sell other than Lexus OEM?

I have several obsticles to overcome.

Transported over rough roads.

110 volt A/C in may be very poor. So will need work

Want to build in a self contained Pelican Case

Built in headphone amp. Want to base it on 6DJ8

Case must hold headphones in transit

Nope, I do believe that Levinson only does OEM Lexus with their head units.
