I haven't listened to the old Headline.
Looking inside, tho, the new one is a complete redo from the old ones and said to have a better tolerance with a lower impedance cans like Grado.
The Headline 2 is in keeping with their newer house sound.

Do you mean Naim stuff in general or the headline.

I have heard the old Naim stuff like the CDS, CDS2. While it was great for Rock and stuff I thought it lacked a more refined edge for when something is required which is not as upbeat as rock.

I prefer the newer Naim line although that might bring distress to the Naim Die hards.

It now brings refinement which I felt it certainly lacked before.

As for the headamps, I have not had the chance. I have never liked Grado's and SS in general. The only two I can stomach with SS is the hp-series and the ps-1's. But generally I prefer the Rs-1's with tubes.

It's not a case of which is better than the other but more of a preference. I like the tubes to take a little edge of the grado sound.

It;s like the old Naim stuff. I would like tube amplification with that to take a little edge off it. Otherwise it will fatigue me.

I will get round to it soon enough I expect.
