I realize that the NAD c541i is already a steal for the budget-minded audiophile. However, are there any people that offer mods that would further enhance this player? The reason being, I doubt that I'll ever want to buy another CD player since the prices of better models are in the thousands of dollars range.

You could always use it as a transport.

Get a schematic. The usual mod are to look at the ps, output IC's, output caps, muting transistors, and bypass caps around the clock and DAC.

A great cheap 'mod' would be to try out Herbie's Grundgebuster CD mat.
