n00b PPA question

25v should be ok... the main reason you dont want caps that are too overrated is becuase then they have smaller capacity... in the same size package

if there is a huge difference in capacity, ex 100uF vs 470uF caps im sure there is an audible difference probably more in the bass than anything...

im planning on using 4 x 25V 560uF caps.. as it was saying on tangents website.. the capacitance is a little over the 2000uF recommendation..

thoughts ?
o btw iv also decided on AD8610AR opamps coming out of my existing HD580

another important question is what type of caps are you looking at? Panasonic? Nichicon? Cerafine? Black Gate?

Panasonic FC , too much hassle getting cerafines etc as im way down in Australia.. its much easier to get all parts from like 2 suppliers

if your using the FC's why not fill all 8 (or 9 depending on your case) caps? they arnt that expensive...

1000 to 2000 μF is a good range to stay within. You may want to use all nine positions if you're using caps with a low capacitance density, such as Black Gates, Cerafines or Silmics.

i need to look into this power issue more .. damn n00biness

would 35v caps be wasteful or 25V be ok?

I've seen several "24V" supplies that are actually very close to 25V or even over. Partly this is due to component tolerance issues, and partly because the regulation isn't perfect.

On the other hand, D1 will drop the supply voltage by 0.7V or so.

I'd measure it under load to be sure it stays well under 25.7V at all times before using 25V caps.

yep just what i thought.. ehhe..

that makes sense now once i read your power paper.. iv measured my headsave vibe under load and it was anything but stable.. 35V Panasonic FC it is !!!! should i still be looking for keeping it between 1000uF to 2000uF as youve already mentioned?
