MZ-RH10 -- who likes it?

Getting the RH10 to work from Japan is very easy. There are 3 issues:

1) Voltage. For some reason, Sony included a world adapter, so this isn't an issue as it usually is w/ Japanese electronics

2) The menus. You have to press about three buttons and it turns from Japanese to English. There's a thread on the minidisc community forums about it.

3) The software. It's very easy to download from Sony America.

If this is how OLED is going to look, I can't wait for Sony to utilize color OLED.

This is the best screen I've seen on a portable unit. My player is black so the characters just seem to float in the casing.

What is the power drain for OLED? Is it significant? I do like that Sony has two levels of brightness when the screen is configured to remain on:

BRIGHT: for navigation

dim: for no menu activity

Everything on the screen is very readable.

Another reason why I settled for NH1 over the latest HiMD is because the latest one is made from plastic and very prone to scratches, unlike the metal body of NH1.

Whats the battery life like on this unit? how's the remote?
This player is battling it out at the top of my wish list with the Sharp IM-DR80 (despite being non hi-md, 130hrs of battery life is pretty incredible)

3.2 on connect.com is the SonicStage I loaded and it seems to work fine. It's an odd combination of added & removed functionality.

Battery life claims can be misleading unless one knows the entire circumstances.

Page 20 of the Sony PDF manual has the myriad of battery / mode / life combinations possible with the RH10.

i love the format of MD, and it doesnt make a lot of sense to get a non-HIMD unit right now... but until HIMD battery life gets above 40-50 hrs, i don't think ill be spending. HDD players are nice, but just dont provide the versatility i've come to expect with MD. Maybe the next gen of HIMD players will address this. Also my current player is built of metal (im-mt880) which really inspires confidence in the durability of it. My hope is that either sony, sharp or panasonic will come out with an aluminum or magnesium unit with 50 hrs battery life...

until then, I guess ill suffer with SP and LP2 on a weird little device with mediocre battry life, that somehow, i still love.

The RH910's the exact same thing as the RH10 right? (except for the screen)... which means that it should work with sonicstage 3.2? (just like the RH10?)

According to "minidisco.com" the step up features for the RH10 are:

1. OLED display
2. Multifunciton remote
3. Aluminum lid

I find it funny on the Sony USA site that they show an RH10 with an LCD screen that looks like the same info as the one they use for the RH910. One of the RH10's biggest selling features isn't even illustrated properly!
