Congrats.

If you plan on sticking with APS-C sensor, I'd get Tamron 17-50mm. It's cheaper, lighter, and f/2.8 vs. the Canon 17-40L.

True but I only need 2 (which I already have) or 3 lenses and Pentax does fine regarding my needs. Fortunately I don't have LBA (Lens Buying Addiction) which some other fellow Pentax owners suffer from.
