This is the stereo setup I have in my basement, we have a DVD player for CDs, we have and old cassette tape player, an onkyo amplifier/receiver, and energy veritas speakers. I just ordered the sennheiser ie80, is this setup adequate for these outstanding iems

Sure it is...

But a portable player would be adedquate too.

It would also get you out of the basement.

Ya, i will mainly listen on my iphone, but when i have the chance, it would be nice to listen to some hi-fi music!

You may not find too big of a difference between the two sources.
