My pair of ATH-M50X sounds quite worse than original M50

Just over a month ago I bought the M50X at a local music store, pretty sure it's not fake(build quality is good, no funny business going on) but as soon as I compared it with my original M50, it just sounded wrong. Very narrow stereo width, the highs sound tinny and general frequency response sounds cheap. However my original M50 sounds very nice and open(as far as closed-back goes), and especially is good at revealing the details in vocal reverb on certain songs. Instead of returning them I thought ok maybe they just need to be burned in(which I haven't been doing a lot of, busy with things, etc.) so it's now passed the return policy date of the store I bought them from. Can someone please confirm that they do have a noticeable change after burn in and how long did it take?

They don't change that much with burn-in.  You probably got a defective one.  It happens.
