Hey guys, I bought this off ebay since I needed a CDP but didn't have the cash. It has a bass boost, line out and Memory/Recall. Sounds great, but I haven't heard any high end CDP. Beats the crap out of my Zen playing .WAV though! Anyone heard of it? Got it for $20, is it worth the dough?

I have the XP240 which is almost identical and looks exactly the same. It is a pretty old PCDP , I bought mine in 1995. It is a pretty good player and my 240still works perfectly. For $20 it is decent investment, mine has a 10 sec antishock but that doesnt improve the sound. I found with mine that it is a bit touchy about some CD-Rs - those recorded with DAO rather than TAO on older versions of NERO.

So I guess mine is slightly lower end compared to yours. Mine says XP140 in front.

Oddly enough, it plays CD-R fine. But it could'nt play my Liquid Tension Experiment CD, ORIGINAL CD. Weird.

When that happens with my DVD player I make a copy and that always works, odd though is there any copy protection on the CD ?

I have no idea. But I had no problems Ripping it. Also, the CD is produced in 1998, so I doubt it.

The Panasonic s340 and s341 I have are identiical, except for the name printed on it -- so, Panasonic made it for Technics, or vice-versa.

If they are identical internally, also, then you have a good CD player -- best if you use the line-out, into an amp for the cans.

I just dusted off my old SLXP240 plugged in the radioshack 4.5V adaptor and connected it up to my modest speaker rig, it is indeed surpsisingly nice as a source, currently grooving to some groovy Renaissance lute music

I think the only difference is that yours does not have anti-shock which for home use is irrelevant.

Anti shock will come in handy when he hears a real CDP I suspect.
