So about 2 weeks back, I posted about suggestions for a new camera. I finally decided on the Canon rebel XT and said I would report back once I get it. Finally, its been a week since I got my rebel and I've had some great times. Havn't really been able to go anywhere special to take pictures so I just took pictures where ever I happened to be. Let me know what you guys think about them.

These were taken by a restaurant I happened to be at.

Indeed. I've only got one L, but after the first few rolls with it my wish list went from $300-500 lenses to $700-1500 lenses. Like audio, photography is hobby that isn't easy on the wallet.

I'm shooting with my FA 50mm 1.4 and an FA 35mm 2 on order for my Pentax *ist DS. I just got the AF-360FGZ P-TTL flash today. Ohhhhhh what a difference a real flash makes for indoor shots.

Expensive hobby as well, eh?

Wow, those are some nice shots. I recently just got my first digital camera, a cheap (by comparison) Canon Cybershot A95, which, according to most reviews, isn't too bad (and even my aunt who's a semi-pro photographer with a digital SLR camera said they looked really nice for a consumer camera). I haven't had much time to play with the manual settings but even on full-auto things look pretty nice. The only thing that I wish this camera had was a faster/easier to use manual focus (it takes forever to go from one end of the focus range to the other). Check out this shot (resized, sharpened, gamma boosted):

Took some more shots this weekend at my parents' friends' house. Let me know what you think of these.

This last one was taken at 10pm in the dark with 30 second exposure.

I'm hoping to get mine sometime this week. I would like some lens and flash recommendations for those of you semi/professional photogs out there.

Wow, enzoferrari650, those shots are beutiful! I wish I could afford such a nice camera (well, I actually could if I dipped into my college fund, but I don't need that nice of a camera).

I got the camera with the kit lens. I puchased the Tamron 28-75 XR Di LD f2.8. I love the tamron and its an amazing lens for the price. I also puchased the canon 50mm f1.8 for indoor portrait shots. The little lens is amazingly cheap and produces superb images. I also bought the Sigma EF-500 DG Super flash. At 200 dollars, it does almost everything the canon speedlites can do for a fraction of the price. A built-in omni bounce is also a great feature.

What's your budget? My personal favorites are the 17-40 L and the 70-200 f2.8 L IS, and a 550EX for the flash.

EDIT: W00T 1K Posts!
