I used the magni 2 with my dac and enjoyed it so I decided to upgrade the amp to the asgard 2. Weirdly, while the magni's volume knob changed the volume, the asgard's changes the orientation of sound from the left ear only to both ears as you turn the knob, with no volume change. Same dac used for both. Is this normal for asgard when the magni's volume changed the volume only as it was supposed to? My dac has a volume knob so would be setting the asgard to max so it's playing in both ears and using the dac to change volume acceptable?

Absolutely not, your product probably has a broken potentiometer on the left channel.

Maybe not theoretically ideal depending on the DAC, but it'll do probably just fine.

Contact Schiit and get them to fix or replace your Schiit!

Ended up replacing it. New one comes this weekend. Everyone including schiit had never heard of this happening.
