I miss even older shows like Dbz and vintage pokemon / digimon... thundercats, he-man, Talespin. These are real cartoons. I'm pretty anti 'computer cartoon' and I found billy and Many to be the beggining of the decline in charisma and functionality. Let alone intelligence... About 4-5 years before Billy/Mandy was the downhill trailing imo. (Perhaps starting with Cats n dogs and the like)? Maybe those were ok..

I deeply appreciate anything Disney prior year 2000 or Disney's "Golden Renaissance." They've had a few good hits since then, but nothing nearly as warm, valuable, or memorable. (except for maybe Tangled). And the Incredibles and perhaps even Finding Nemo.

Even Classics like Tom and Jerry and the Looney-Toons... They were amazing! Because they were lighthearted, laughable, they made you (children) perceive things like modern cartoons simply don't do. The wording was often more opulent and less malaise. It'll be a while before those days return....

But damn I do miss the days of culteral prosperity... Perhaps in my lifetime, they'll come around.

One of my still favorite cartoons to date from that Disney era was Gargoyles. That was an unbelievable cartoon series released by Disney, that personally, was unlike anything else they had put out earlier or have yet to put out since. It also definitely could have had longer legs, but sadly it only got a few seasons before being cancelled. I've been working out here in the field for almost 4-5 years now, and out here, movies and TV shows collected on hard-drives are like hard currency, and some of the most popular things off of my hard-drive have been Gargoyles, Tale-Spin, Darkwing Duck and The Rescue Rangers and I have multiple requests for Duck Tales if I ever decide to add that to my drive!

they still play tom&Jerry/loony toons but only certain episodes and certain times cause i believe loony toons had some racist aspects of the show and was way far from any type of political correctness crap modern shows have to fall by under nowadays since everything has to be so politically correct. i think i remember a scene where i think porky pig (i think it was him) getting an eye exam and at the very bottom with the tiny text is reads ''if you can read this then you are chinese'' lol. also they had blacks as maids and so forth in loony toons(eps with salvaster and tweetie in the house) and people nowadays will find that offensive even though it's just a cartoon.

Disney was good till Walt Disney died then they went downhill from there. they had some of the best well known family cartoons and movies known. Lion King is still one of my favorite disney movies of all time.

i think it's from the same artist as invader zim. my friend said it was. it was a good comic book with nice dark humor. i enjoyed it. i was little disappointed cause through the whole book i expected to see Nips boobs cause there was so many indications of her being the town person. i was like Mr kitty through the whole book lol.

Johnny and Invader Zim. I love his work. Amazing stuff. Shame he doesn't seem to be doing anything notable lately.

Don't think he had a hand in 'I Luv Halloween'...though it's a fun read.

I loved Invader Zim. It's the only cartoon series (apart from MLP) that I rewatched as an adult. Really dark though, not that surprised it got cancelled. A reboot aimed at teens and young adults could be pretty successful, but I don't have my fingers crossed now.

I remember Gargoyles faintly. I know I loved it, and I had some McDonalds toys or something. I remember it was awesome, too.

One of the things I love about MLP is it brings back some of the sensibilities of old cartoons like Looney Tunes. It knows it's a cartoon, and it's not afraid to use that for wacky slapstick humor (just look at the Sonic Rainnuke). It manages to balance it with good storytelling, too, so it remains modern and inspired, and allows it to reach across age demographics. As much as I liked Looney Tunes as a kid, I'm not sure I'd be able to watch it today.

I think it's too much to hope for, but if we're lucky MLP will continue to gain popularity, and its success will convince modern cartoon producers to try a little harder. There's potential yet untapped in the medium, as diverse as it is (just look at my two favorites, MLP and Invader Zim!)

It's not really derailed, I think discussion of other quality cartoons has its place. Plus there's no new episode this week, so I don't have much to talk about

But if anyone's into roleplaying (pen and paper, D&D, that sort of thing) the Season One version of Roleplaying is Magic is all finished and looks spiffy. Funny how this is the only time I've ever been tempted to try, unfortunately I don't know any bronies in real life.

And on the subject of old cartoons, check out this really short fan animation of Pinkie in Steamboat Willie.

I think all forms of television can take a lesson here. The interaction the writers have had with the fans has been nothing short of great. That's what go me started watching in the first place. If other writers and producers can take a page from here, it could lead TV in a great direction.

That aside, still rather new here but it's great to see ponies here as well.
