I went shopping for sennheiser as complement for my grados . I listened to hd580 , hd600 , hd595 and hd650. I took 3 hours at a shop to decide which headphone to buy. In the end i decided on hd595. WHY???? it just not have that annoying mid bass which hd600/hd580 have. and its not too different from grado. Hd650 is good but the price difference over hd595 doesn't justify the sound difference. And its has good mid range but not as harsh as akg 501. hd600 is more comfortable than hd595 But its warmer and i live in the tropical region where sweating is part of my everyday life

Comparing hd600 and hd595 was the most difficult time of my life. My initial impression is hd600 has smoother vocal but very sleep inducing ( the perfect phone for rockabye baby music) , hd595 's vocal is less refined but more energy. But the hd600's mid bass is very annoying , 'bass out of nowhere'. As for listening michael jackson , hd595 is smoother than my grado but lack grado excitement.

Comparing hd595 to sr225, different especially vocals , my sr225 still sound better to me like 30% over hd595 but the latter is not burned in yet and i hope after buring in it can sound on par to sr225 in terms of quality.

Now i am on both side , grado and sennheiser

Sorry I'm a bit confused. So before you tried out the 595s and initially you hated them but now after trying them out some more you found you liked them? What was it about hearing them this time that made you like them opposed to the time you heard them previously?

HI: You could have bought the Beta C-Pads for the 225 and would be very surprised at the sound difference and comfort.

IMO, Grados have a far, FAR more annoying midbass hump than Sennheisers do, but...to each his own, as usual.

You bet I am. As I read the thread title I started to gather the energy for a big burst of flames -- then came the (relieved) laughs.

Seriously, they'll improve more and more for the first 300-400 hours (at least

). Let me anticipate that they'll exceed your expectations in this regard -- so happened with mine.

after listening to few ablums , senn/grado combination is terrific. For bee gees , grado is better for ' staying alive , trategy , night fever' the senn is better for slower songs like ' i started a joke'

For michael jackson
1. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough sr225
2. Rock With You hd595
3. Billie Jean hd595
4. Beat It sr225
5. Thriller sr225
6. I Just Can't Stop Loving You hd595
7. Bad sr225
8. Smooth Criminal hd595

these MJ songs are my favourite , yet different tracks need different headphones.

For ride the lighting , fade to black sounds better with sr225 but the call of kthulu hd595 is preferable.

In conclusion , i think it needs more than 1 headphone to be a happy headfier, though there are headphones which have both senn and grado qualities.

I know what you mean. For me it's been seven months and I still can't decide which I like more.

Well apart from the hd595 I think he means the beyerdynamic dt880/990 headphones. I'm thinking of getting an 880 and selling my sr325i.

Yup, that's the move I've also weighed. Although I'm not convinced that the DT880 should be it, when it's sometimes called 'laidback' for having slightly recessed vocals, and sometimes labeled 'boring' for having a soft sound. I'm afraid I may end up liking the HD595 better as a complement to the HD650. And I've little money to waste. Decisions can be dramatic.
