Hmm, I wonder how much the D7000 sound over the D2000? With the mods. I was going to get a D7000 but maybe now just a D2000.

Is the D7000 Cup better than what Lawton makes?

At some point I plan to get the wooden cups on my D2000s, but have not done it yet.

I would send an email to Lawton audio to see what they say about the wooden cups on the D2000s vs the stock D7000s:

the lawnton woodies are superior to any of the denon stock cups IMO (I have the Tasmanian Blackwood; latest version) and I have to disagree with the amp being the most important, especially for denons. for me; in order of importance:
Headphones->source->amp->cables in the case of D2000 perhaps cables before amp even as the stock cable is a piece of the proverbial poop IMO. with less efficient headphones this order may change a little, but the D2000 is easily driven by my portable amps because they are actually quite efficient

there really is a massive difference between fully modded D2000 and stock. the woodies make almost as much difference as the cable IMO and they are gorgeous!! they are a bit chunkier than stock too, especially if you go for one of the less dense woods, as I did for a larger soundstage (but less isolation) I dont regret it in the least.

My Jena 18awg cable on HD650 gave improvements somewhat similar to those you hear on your Denon. Nothing short of fantastic, really, including the visual. The price is steep though. The cable is one of my best head-fi investments.
