My $7 Goodwill Floor Headphone Stand

I thought I'd post my newly "assembled" floor stand.  I came across an IKEA ALANG floor lamp at Goodwill for $5.  The lower rod and stand looked like a good generic base to start with:
 

I pulled out the adjusting rod and the wire just leaving the square base and rod.
 
I've had this for a couple of months and couldn't decide how to finish it off.  I was at Goodwill tonight and I found it:
 

This is a velvet covered T-Bar bracelet stand, $2.  I pulled off the square base which also removed a wooden dowel that was inside a plastic tube wrapped with velvet, the "riser" of the stand.  I hot glued the tube back into the large cylindrical part.  This tube was nearly a pressure fit on to the rod of the floor lamp base.  I put a couple drops of hot glue in the tube and slid it on.  
 
When all done this is what I got:
 

 
 

 
I think it turned out quite nifty to sit next to my listening chair with room for another pair of cans on the other side.
 
So what do you think?  Opinions welcome.
