Was looking for some advice.

I've got a tiny music library, but mainly like Rap/Hip Hop and Rock. If you could list Albums and Artists to look into, it would be much appreciated.

All advice appreciated! Thanks guys!

For Hip Hop, just look in my sig. Tech N9ne and Strange Music crew (Strange Music is the biggest indie hip hop label in the world, Tech N9ne is on it and others, I call the artists the "crew" fyi) have got lots of energy, Greg Enemy is a bit more hood-ish but not gangster like. thePhantom* is great at mixing House/electronic beats and conscious rap, Irv Da Phenom has really got soul! And some other dope tracks too that are more like rap people think of, but still good. PM me if you wanna talk more.

EDIT: Go to Music Preferences on my profile for the links of these people, my bad! Also, I *ESPECIALLY* recommend JKR70 for good hip hop instrumentals/beats as well. JKR70 was the producer for Human CropCircles too. They have a couple more albums on iTunes that aren't on that link, I can get you the FLAC if you want it, I just ordered the CD versions off CDBaby.

Good luck with your quest, and like I said, PM me if you wanna talk more. I know a ton of KC hip hop!!

Seconded on the Tech N9ne/Strange Music.  In my opinion, Tech's best albums are his older material (Check out The Calm Before the Storm, The Worst, Anghellic, Absolute Power) although his newer stuff is great too.  Kutt Calhoun is also a favorite of mine.

Definitely check out SLAUGHTERHOUSE!  There four dudes are absolute beats (Crooked I, Royce, Budden, and Joel Ortiz)  Their self titled LP is amazing

Some more to look into:

Classified

Brother Ali

Doomtree (or POS's solo stuff)

Freddie Gibbs (so amazing)

Evidence

Eyedea (RIP, you were great man)

FELT (slug and murs)

Jake One

Enjoy

Just to clarify -- you are looking for any Rap/Hip-Hop and Rock ?

The best of all-time ?

Recent ?

Rock that has similarities to Rap/Hip-Hop -- or any rock ?

The aforementioned Jimi Hendrix is considered the greatest guitarist of all-time.

Top all-time rock albums:

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours (not very rap-like)
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Michael Jackson - Thriller (somewhat more rap-like)
The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
The Beatles - Abbey Road

Harder Rock:

Led Zeppelin - IV ("four")
AC/DC - Back in Black
Metallica - The Black Album
Nirvana - Nevermind
Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland

Rap/Hip-Hop:

Run D.M.C. - Raising Hell (THE classic rap album)
Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet
The Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique
NWA - Straight Outta Compton
Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP

Those are the giant classics of the genres.  None is recent, in fact none are even 21st Century.   But for current stuff, I just go to Youtube, where I can see the video in 1080p !

Very recent faves of mine:

Lil Wayne - Mirror feat Bruno Mars
Pitbull - Rain Over Me feat Marc Anthony

Older fave hip-hop on youtube:

Baby Bash feat Pitbull - Outta Control
Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz - Get Low

Guys, I just wanted to say thanks. I've really appreciated it. Like really.

Any, it doesn't need to be recent, and it doesn't need to be similar or anything, that would be IMO funny. Man music is expensive...

If you're just getting into rock music, you might check out Rolling Stone's various lists of the 100 greatest artists/albums etc. It's not definitive, but it's a good starting place to get a lot of the essentials. You may also check out the Music Lists pages on Digital Dream Door. I've found tons of great stuff there.
