Music that makes you cry?

Mike in the Mechanics "Living Years" definately hits a nerve when thinking about the father-son relationship, opportunities lost, regret... it's bittersweet and something we all have to deal with sooner or later.

I wasn't there that morning
When my Father passed away
I didn't get to tell him
All the things I had to say

I think I caught his spirit
Later that same year
I'm sure I heard his echo
In my baby's new born tears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years

For instrumentals the 1812 Overture usually gets me

While mine wasn't traveling for work my dad was never really the 'play with your kid' type. Sure we had a few years of baseball and stuff but the rest was just nothing.

That one always gets my brother-in-law. His dad was always travelling for work.

This made me cry a moment ago. The song is actually more than twice as long as the video.

J Dilla's album 'Donuts.' Not so much the music itself (though man, the nostalgia that some of those tracks evoke for me is really heady), but just the fact that Dilla isn't around anymore to keep on making such beautiful music. It hurts all the worse because Donuts is such a lively, all over the place album. Positively bursting with ideas.
