Music shouldn't have any boundaries because of language, heritage, or culture. Which brings my question:

Can you name some artists, bands, groups that can appeal to anybody no matter where you're from? multicultural Music that trancends any boundaries.

Music like:

La Oreja De Van Goh ----Spain

Vangelis -----Greece

Enigma -----Germany

Deep Forest -------France

Glen Hansard -----Ireland (Featured in "Once" movie)

Markéta Irglová ----Czech Republic (Featured in "Once" movie also)

Jon Anderson ------England (lead singer of Yes)

Cheers

I don't suppose the non-English speaking world will be that over-awed by Jon Anderson.. Unless all the lyrics he sings don't matter. :)

And I notice the boundaries you haven't set seem to be roughly contiguous with the European Union..

..in any case there's nothing wrong with the odd boundary now and then: it allows you to clap at the end and stops the sheep from wandering all over the road.

Camille - French (Le fil)
I think that's my favorite foreign artist, or at least one that sings in a foreign language. While I know a bit of french, not enough to grasp at what exactly she's saying, yet I still enjoy her music immensely. In fact, I didn't like her new album as much and it was sung primarily in english.

Ok, maybe Jon Anderson is not the best example, but I feel his songs throughout the instruments, and they dont have to have any lyrics in them for me to enjoy them. What i'm refering to is not only in language, more like music in a whole. Music that a little boy or girl in Cambodia can listen to and would not care in what language it is. I know some of us have to understand the lyrics in order to get the song's true meaning, but there are many songs that don't need translation, because the music speaks for itself. I am from a Spanish speaking country, and as a boy I remember I was exposed to a variety of music, most of it being in English. I was taken by the sound, the instruments, the vocals, even if I didn't understand a word they were saying. I would hear my sisters repeating some of those lyrics.....we would memorize them and pronounce them however we could without knowing and without caring about their meaning.

I love Deep Forest's self-titled album!

1. Deep Forest - Deep Forest, Mouquet, Eric
2. Sweet Lullaby
3. Hunting
4. Night Bird
5. The First Twilight - Deep Forest, Cue
6. Savana Dance - Deep Forest, Cue
7. Desert Walk
8. White Whisper
9. The Second Twilight - Deep Forest, Cue
10. Sweet Lullaby
11. Forest Hymn

Their best work IMO!
Also if you like Deep Forest, you should try Enigma as well.

Yep, I remember my mom used to love ABBA in Spanish. "Chiquitita" being one that I remember the most.

Have you heard their "Seven Lives Many Faces" new album?

It's pretty good.
