I've been considering my options for a source upgrade. I already have a stock CD-25, so the level 3 mods from Sound Odyssey would presumably be about $500, and the resulting player is said to rival some that cost much more.

With high priority placed on value, do I even need to consider a new player or an external DAC? Or should I put the issue to rest and just get the mods when the time comes?

The mods are awesome. The closest you would come to the Zapfilter sound is to get a just a clock mod and use the MH for a transport with an Ack! dAck! but
I think its more cost-effective to just go the Level 3 route.
