Hi there.
I would like to understand something about V30 and Apple Music... because I found a good priced V30 near home to use only as a DAP.

If I use Apple Music (lossless or Hi-Res) streaming on the V30, what will I get out of the onboard headphone jack ???
- android resampled audio without the quad dac processing
- android resampled audio re-processed by the quad dac
- apple audio processed directly by the Quad Dac
- the full Hi-res (on the hi-res songs)?
??????????????????????

Sorry for my very raw description... and many thanks for your help.

Question: would anyone recommend replacing the battery in the LG V30 versus buying a different Android phone and dongle dac (MQA renderer)?

I'm gutted LG are no longer making smartphones (let alone smartphones like the Vxx series that incorporate a Quad DAC). I own the V30 and have for over 2 years now. I'm thinking ahead as I know after 2 years a phone's battery normally starts deteriorating.

Thought I'd ask here before having someone hack open the phone to put a new battery in it. Thanks

Forgot to mention I stream Tidal and Qobuz through UAPP and also own 2 MQA renderer (Zorloo Ztella and Dragonfly Black). I still prefer listening to unfolded MQA files and Hi-Res FLAC files directly through the 3.5 headphone jack courtesy of UAPP. Just sounds more rounded with better clarity (especially with my DT 880 pros). Makes me think I wasted money on the Ztella, but as per my question above, maybe not in the long term.

I am an audio engineer and audiophile. I have the V30. It is good but a little bright sounding. I replaced it recently with a LG V50 and this DO OFFER a better sound from its hifi dac. My son did the same, and he agrees with me. Kind of smoother in sound profile. You can get it new on ebay for 180$, nothing else if not THE bargain of the century. The V50 is also an excellent phone, generally speaking. The only thing is that the screen is a "tint" better on lgv30 to my taste, due to color profile. But the lgv50 screen is also very good, no problems.

Here is the link. I have purchased 3 units, all new and fully working. No problems. Service minded seller as well. Highly recommended.

v30 is a little more defined / less rounded then v40 and v50. I overall prefer v40 and v50 sound signature for being more musical but they're overall softer then v30 which might excel a millimeter or two for definition in some areas ( i.e. instrument/correct space placement ) .. no sound eng here , but long time user of them .

Indeed V30 came out mid 2017, LG G7 ThinQ came 1yr later and V50 came again one year later mid 2019. Might be the SQ of the very first release V30 wasn't quite refined enough. Where do you see the LG G7 ThinQ that came one year later? Would be the V50 here again a clear upgrade vs. G7 ThinQ?
