Hi all,

I was hoping people here can help me. I want to upgrade the sound card in my HTPC and I want to do way with SPDIF output to my reciever. I know I can get multi output pro audio cards with much better DACs than can be found in recievers which I can afford. So I need some suggestions and advise.

My choices so far are
1. E-MU 1616m (PCI)
2. Lynx Two-B

Some people say that the difference in sound between the Lynx and E-MU are nearly identical with only subltle differences. As I believe they use the same DACs (can someone confirm this?).

I have also tried to look at RME's offerings but I can't tell which card will be the best for me.

The Lynx card is more than twice the price of the E-MU so right now I am thinking about getting the 1616M. Any suggestions as to why I should spend more and get the Lynx.

Also does anyone know if the 1616M does the D/A conversion in the external box or on the PCI card.

Thanks in advance.
