I just got the MT-602 amp as my 1st step in trying tubes. I did not want to spend too much in case I did not like it but I am very impressed. After reading up on tube rolling I set off to find some to pair up with my Audeze LCD2f headphones and OMG, there is so much info to take in and so little time.
"Buy these ones" ok "But not this batch" ok "Or this decade" ok "And not if pairing with Planars" ok "Oh and if you don't like bright highs, give those a miss" ok "Oh and those might be Chinese knock offs" Arrrrrgh!

Because I am in the UK, anything too costly will get hit with tax, which for a cheap amp, is not worth it. (though this time next year I will move on to bigger...maybe) But I have got it down to these and I was wondering if anyone has experience with them and sound signature thoughts. Thank you

Try to identify something you want to remedy, or an aspect you want to double down on.
At least then when trawling impressions of tubes you might get the subtle upgrade you want

I went with the voshkod 6J1P-EV. Separation is a little better, but the big change is the soundstage. It really opened up and it's easily noticeable.
For an amp of this budget, that's about as far as I would go. I would like to try the SYLVANIA 5654 (1950s and 1960s) but the cost in the UK is OTT. Maybe I will get lucky and find a pair.
