quite interesting to see that the 6bl7gt can be used without the supra transformer...
i was under the impression that going from 0.6A to 1.5A per
output tube would require the power transformer upgrade...
what exactly is/was the reason for the $500 supra transformer upgrade?

Hi Takezo,

Mikhail recommended the 2C51 / 6bl7gt combination to me via email
but to be honest I wasn't 100% certain whether he'd misread my
MPX3 spec. I couldn't find anything conclusive from searches and
so here we are.

Presumably the Supra transformer will accomodate running even higher
power tubes with combinations that require more power than a 2C51-type
gain tube ?

I believe it's to allow the use of 12 volt tubes like the 12SN7 instead of the 6SN7.

i don't know... yes, it's 12 volts, but the current is halved to 0.3A... why the need
for a power transformer with better current specs...

Takezo, do you have the Supra transformer AND the 12 volt input adapter?

yes, when i had the mpx3 slam se the transformer was upgraded to supra and i made
use of the 6bl7gt and 6bx7gt at 300volts and 375volts. the trouble with singlepower,
other issues aside, is that almost every one of his amps have some difference in upgrades
and topology too. he experiments non-stop it seems...

Thanks Takezo. It seems that way from my experiences during the few
weeks of ownership. Thankfully, there are alot of helpful people here.
