The Audigy 2 does support DVD-A but it's not considered to be that great of a card unless you are dominately a gamer.

As far as Intervideo's new software, it's undetermined whether or not it will actually allow you to use the higher resolution DVD-A tracks without a the Audigy 2.

There are some soundcards out that have the ability to decode DSD (SACD) but there are currently no players out there that will read the disc.

One thing to consider is that it would be cheaper to get into DVD-A and SACD with a low end universal and it would likely sound better than the soundcard anyway... pretty much all of the new players also support MP3 as well (and about 80 songs at 320kbps fit on a disc) and will likely sound better playing the mp3's too.

Uh, yeah they can, obviously, since they can play dvd-a's with compatible stuff. I don't think they can play sacd's, though.

Yes, but AFAIK it's not possible to rip and compress DVD-A...
