Hi I'm trying to trim down mp3 songs. (I got a phone and I can use the songs on my microsd as my ring tone). I just want to cut down the length of the songs and keep the good parts.
Just looking for something very simple and free.

thanks!

Audacity x2

Don't mess about with others. Download Audacity and Lame (two separate packages) - all set to chop and save MP3s

hate to ask, so I figured out how to trim the mp3 track, however I cant figure out how to save it as an mp3file. I trimmed everything I wanted then went to, also the song I trimmed is an mp3 file

so i clicked

FILE
EXPORT as MP3...

then it says audacity does not export Mp3 files directly, but instead uses free available LAME library to handle MP3 file encoding......

how can I save my mp3 file as an mp3 file, am I missing something

thanks

Lame is required to export and save the MP3. I probably should have made that a bit more explicit.

Yes, I forgot that part as well.
Actually though LAME was part of Audacity. Meaning that you could export to MP3 out-of-the-box.
