i own a slimX, and imho, its probably the best mp3 pcdp out there. if the chromeX comes anywhere close to its sister, i would highly recommend it to u and anyone else, expiecially in that price range

im sure the slimX and the minidisc player should have the same quality as long as you use the same source (ie MP3), but of course, the slimX has its infamous hiss. however, i own a pair of mdrE888s, so i can barely hear it as long as the music is playing.

has anyone tried a JMT amp on a slimX, btw?

I have tried the Airhead with the SlimX and there's no problem with the hiss.
