is there a big difference between 5mW+5mW, 6mW+6mW or 8mW+8mW?

how noticeable is the difference? for portable products, is it that important?

i was thinking of getting one of these:
Panasonic SL-CT500
http://www.audiocubes.com/product_i...products_id=421
Panasonic SL-CT800
http://www.audiocubes.com/product_i...products_id=293
Sony D-NE1
http://www.audiocubes.com/product_i...products_id=431

the 500 has the best ouput, and pretty good battery life .. but is much thicker and has an ugly remote

the 800 is an older product and probably looks the worst, but it has almost everything i want (something like the 'compromise')

the sony has all these useless features that i'm not looking for in a cd / mp3 player (mostly used for cd), has the lowest output, but has the best battery life, best looks, and smallest volume

what do you guys think?

the new iriver(s) looks nice too, have great features .. except the battery life is abysmal!

anybody know how long it lasts on just the NH-WMs playing CDs?

or what is the best NEW pcdp that's worth buying?
mainly lookign for sound quality ..

The NE1 seems to have ATRAC compression.... as well as an optical out.

Looks interesting.. but I emailed Kohn and he said that he doesn't think it supports VBR.... damn.

My iRiver 350 has no problems will all of my Lame VBR mp3s... hiss is getting to me though.

If the 550 is reasonably priced, for sure I'll get that.

It will definitely be worth the wait, it's slimmer and has some nice new features (12 min shock, probably chinese support, full VBR support.. a snake game :p)

Oh, and also the 55 hour battery life seems interesting.. (but I got a feelign it will be somewhere around 20 with just the internal batteries.)

hm, the others have much longer battery life than 55 hours ... internals (ni-mh gunsticks) themselves in the models i listed last 25-35 hours ... with the external they last almost up to 100 i believe
