Can anyone help with a tone problem I am having with MP-D2

My MP-D2 is started to sound thin, no midrange or bass. Which tubes would you replace?
I only use the RCA OUTPUT. NO volume control.
Should I use NOS tubes?
I had Amperex NOS for the last 3 years.

Many thanks!

Tubes 1 and 3 are used for RCA output and you can leave two and four empty. If using XLR you need 4 matched tubes and capacitors.
Yes, if you have the latest version of the MP D2 mk3 deluxe dac then you can also remove the capacitors for tubes 2 and 4 as well. This will reduce the noise.

Which caps are you using for tubes 1 & 3? If you want more body and warmth, then look at the copper foil types (not cheap) or VCAP Odams. Im using 6n6p/6n6h russian otk and with Odams its got all the resolution, warmth, bass (Odam's hit hard) with the 6n6ps. If you want a bit more tonal colours to come through, add a 0.01uf Duelund JDM Ag bypass cap to the Odam. I was truly surprised how much of a difference that made. Also i found using a 274b linlai WE replica rectifier added to the above effect.
