Do you prefer majestic and sublime sonic eloquence of the classical genius or bubble-gum pop of tasteless hacks? (with apologies to DavidMahler) :)

I think the Beatles are vastly overrated. I like their songs but they're nowhere near as emotionally involving as Mozart's works.

Is like choosing between strawberries and oranges. You are not comparing apples to apples. Both are great but for different places and occasions.

Gonna have to go with the Beatles…haven't developed much of an emotional attachment to Mozart. I can hear how genius the music is, but it doesn't push me over the edge. I would've agonized more over Stravinsky.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to Shakespeare........

both great in their own way, but one is obviously more essential....

Why is one obviously more essential? I've been listening to music for almost 40 years and it isn't obvious to me. Please explain yourself.
