Bass allways seems to be the compromise when looking into " Portable " size headphones. I can take up to about the size of a Klipch One, maybe a little larger. Prefer on ear, but over ear is OK too I guess. I just need to have some style to it. I don't want to look like an " Airplane Pilot " at Starbucks.....I get funny stares when I wear my SH 800s......I do listen to all types of music, but the " Bar " is pounding high volume techno music....The " portable " headsets I have tried - just all seem to fall apart at higher volumes, even when driven by a good amp.....I havve a pair of Denon AH-D200, and I would like to get as close as possible to it.....I have tried the Klipch One - sounds good at first, but once you listen to it for a little while - you notice there is no midrange...I do like the looks of the Phiaton 400, but too many people have just told me the audio quality - just isn't there. I like the Ultrasone 2400 and Beyer T50 Teslas - but again, I've read that they fail in the " enough pwerful bass " category. I will not even consider the Beats line, I want ovarall audio quality as well...My budget is $ 150 - $ 250, I'd like to fall under the $ 200 point, but if I find the right headset for a little more, will cough up the extra.

I recently picked up Bowers&Wilkons P5. It gets mixed reviews on this forum but to me they sound good. Before this I used AKG Q701 + NuForce Icon HDP and comparing these two side by side I would have never chose to buy P5 based solely on it's sound quality. But to be fair, it wasn't a fair match.

Before I purchased P5, I was looking into Senn HD25 and Beyer DT1350. I was able to audition HD25 for only one song at a retail store. I really wanted to try DT1350 before I bought P5 but I had no chance. And buying without auditioning is kind of silly... Anyways those two are better options if you had to choose solely on sound quality (although HD25 wasn't a "wow" either). However for me I really loved the build quality and look of P5 that I was willing to give up a little (really not much) sound quality. I bought the P5 to use while on bus or at library studying or playing poker at casino. In any of those situations I am not paying close attention to music anyways. For purely listening enjoyment I think P5 is better than those two headphones mentioned above.

In terms of price, P5 is too expensive. It should be like $200. But I don't mind paying extra for this headphone because I don't think I can wear HD25 or even worse DT1350 in public... looking like a teletubby.

EDIT: wow I totally missed what you wanted was a bass headphone.. I guess P5 is still to consider but forget HD25 or DT1350.
