im looking for a pair of headphone for my HOME system. so i dont mind if its open/close. im looking for a headphone that is very comfortable to wear over long periods of time and suitable for every genre of music especially rock, r&b, jazz and electronica/techno.

as for bass, im a NOT a "BASSHEAD"

i have narrow my choices to 4 headphones under $75

1) sony mdr-v6
2) grado sr-60
3) sennheiser hd 497
4) koss ksc-35 <--- my workout phone

i dont know which one to get. please help me decide. or if you have any more suggestion/recommendation would be helpful
---------------------------------------
edit:

sony v6 is out [too analytical and dry]
grado sr-60/sr-80 is out [senn. hd 497 sounds better than the grados]

but i have increase my buget to $120 USD, now my choices are:

the most MUSICAL headphones

1) koss ksc-35 [the athletic phone]
2) Alessandro Music Series One [sounds and looks like a grado]
3) senn. hd 477/497 [the underdog]
4) ety. er-6 [ety sound for half the price]

which one should i get?

I woulda said HD497, but he's a bass lover, so...V6...

have you tried the senn. hd 497? how does it compared to the koss ksc-35? is the hd497 a step-up [upgrade] to the koss ksc-35

to my ear, the koss ksc-35 have GREAT bass for a portable!

I was thinking Denon AHD-550... search here and at headwize for reviews.....

uh....

What about Audio-Technica M40fs?

I haven't tried HD497, but there are many, many extensive reviews here. I think that they said that it DOES have a lot of bass?? I dont know....

ah! here's some reviews!

Step up from the KSC-35? Hell, from the reviews, it's a step up from the SR-80, which we all know is a step up from the SR-60, which I have, which *I* know is a step up from the KSC-35. That answer your question? Although the impacting bass versus the SR-80 (I wouldn't suggest 60....) is still out, unless you can find something I missed in one of those reviews (which is actually quite likely)...

cause i already own the koss ksc-35 for 2 months now,

IF the senn. hd497 is a set up/upgrade from the ksc35...i might get it.

MacDEF should be the most qualified to answer this, I'm surprised he hasn't said anything yet.

I'm in search for a good easily driven closed headphone for below $200. No Sonys! Any suggestions?

Just avoid the Denon 210's and 350's, i've owned those, they sound terrible. A lot of bloated bass. Can't say anything about the 550's, i wonder if they sound a little more refined.

I don't agree with that Gluegun. I don't even think the SR60 are really better than the KSC-35 -- I preferred the 35 to the SR60.

I *strongly* disagree with the V6 -- they are anything but "musical." They have great bass, but the treble and midrange simpy aren't musical to my ears. Much too analytical and dry.

I haven't heard the Senn 497, so I can't comment on them. I would have to go with the SR80 or the KSC-35 if what you're looking for is "musical" cans.

Audio&Me, you should consider the Beyer DT250.
