The song "Can't Be Saved" by Senses Fail. I just just love that main line.

"Testify", "Guerilla Radio", "Sleep Now in the Fire", "Renegades of Funk" by Rage Against the Machine. Well, anything by Tom Morello is ridiculous.

all that RATM and no Bulls on Parade?? come onnn

still have to say Like A Rolling Stone

Other good choices though.......Like a rolling stone is the intro that sort of announces serious music in rock, a politically / socially aware song that had never been attempted in rock before...........and that opening is, as one critic once said......is like a Gavel......

"Purple Haze" - Jimi Hendrix

Elsewhere in the thread: Big-up! to the cats who selected "Baba O'Reilly" and "Money for Nothing." The Dire Straits set-up may be better than the whole song.

Someone else rightly suggested the Arcade Fire; I also really like the intro to "Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)." Beautiful…

The Stones have some greats: Sympathy For the Devil, Start Me Up and Happy come to mind and let's not forget the Boss with Born to Run. But my favourite of all: back in the early seventies when I was in AM rock-n-roll radio, I used to love giving the weather forecast over the top of John Fred's Judy in Disguise, ending just before he starts moaning. To this day if I hear it on an oldies station I have to yell out "it's seventy-three degrees at three o'clock" before the vocal.

Survival by Yes is pretty good, though the rest of the song is not as good as the first 30 seconds

I have to agree with OP 100% on this one. Those DT intros are my favourite, Honor Thy Father is my mobile ringtone, and I too have skipped back to the start of the track just to hear the intro over and over a few more times

6:00 and Glass Prison would have to be favourites too, although my favourite moment on Six Degrees is the climax of the solo in Blind Faith at about 8:30.

And all thumbs up on the others, especially Have A Cigar

But now I can't think of any more great intros... I've got DT going through my head
