Right now I'm using a Fiio E11,and I have a pair of ATH-Pro700 MK2's hooked upto it. My problem is these have such an enormous amount of low end when I turn the volume up I get some clipping when the bass hits like the amp just can't handle it. I feel like the headphones CAN DEFINITELY take the abuse. On my Sennheisers the drivers starts to rattle way before I get any sort of clipping. But on the other hand I feel like these Pro700's need some heavy power

The E11 handles that punchy bass nice,but when it starts to get real low that's where the issue seems to be with the amplifier.

Headphones have nothing to do with your amp clipping. You're overdriving the amp, attenuate the signal going in... Either EQ or pad it down.

If the EQ'ing doesn't do it for you, go for some more power in the amplifier departments.

I know it's the amp and not the headphones. Maybe I worded it wrong. I use the EQ but eh.

Depends how you use it.  Your music was created with EQ's somewhere in the chain line.

Well with the EQ off there's hardly any low end. However I'm pretty sure the Pro700's can definitely handle a lot of EQ. Much more than the device/amp is capable of putting out.

As snell said,there's EQ in the music no matter what. And being DJ headphones,I would imagine these are basically built to handle various EQ's across the board

Are you boosting bass or attenuating everything else? It makes a difference with some EQ not properly handling clipping.
