More like The Dillinger Escape Plan-but w/o all that screaming?

Recently picked up "Miss Machine"-this is the type of crisp, precise, metal-core I love, but I just cant deal with the tracks where its just straight screaming.
However, I REALLY enjoy the tracks that have great melodic singing with bits and pieces of yelling/screaming thrown in for some aggressive flavor.

"Setting Fire to Sleeping Giant" and "Unretrofied" are my favorites-Greg Puciato's got an incredible "normal" singing voice-but wished he eased up a little on some songs.

Suggestions for melodic, math/alt-metal with some screaming?

Dysrhythmia's new album Barriers and Passages is really technical w/ no vocals whatsoever. Some nice melodic parts as well. ... oops saw you wanted some screaming. That makes it more difficult, I will think about it.

Sounds interesting none the less-will check it out, thanks.

I am not aware of any band that plays DEP's type of music with mostly melodic vocals. In my experience, it's either instrumental or it's screaming with maybe some clean singing thrown around here and there.

The aforementioned Dysrhythmia is a good choice, though they are quite a bit more mellow than DEP. You should also look into Sleep Terror. I also highly recommend Jane Doe from Converge - it's one of the best 'core albums I have ever heard, and I'm a metalhead... which generally means I should despise 'core by default.

Geez, thats a tough one. Polyrthymic or odd time signature metal is usually accompanied by screaming, you'll be hard pressed to find a band with melodic singing throughout an entire CD. In fact I cant even name one right now, I keep wanting to refer you to bands that scream but also use a lotta "math" (Meshuggah, Dysrhythmia etc.). Good luck in your search, I will be checking back on this thread myself for recommendations from other posters.

I can think of a couple bands, but seriously the band you're looking for is called Hella.

I usually lurk and this is my first post, that's how serious I am.

That's a good suggestion, but I just noticed that the OP asked for "great melodic singing" to go with his guitar helter skelter. Hella and Naked City, for the most part, are instrumental bands...

As mrdeadfolx says, this is a tough one!

Wow-im surprised to hear that this type of music doesnt exist??
Maybe I need to broaden my search criteria.
That said, lets go with good alt. metal (doesnt have to be math-although I like the precise/choppy metal core material).
I dont mind aggressive vocals with periodoc yelling/screaming/cookie monster-vocals but I do want predominant melodic singing.
Im thinking a more aggro-version of Stephen Brodsky's vocals? (Cave In)

I will say this though, if regular time signatures are OK by you, and you like melodic singing mixed with aggressive vocals for contrast, I seriously recommend Fear Factory's latest Few albums, "Obsolete", "Digimortal", "Archetype" and "Transgression". Particularly the latter 2 have some great clean singing over a choppy "double bass follows guitar chug" instrumental background.

I tried getting into "demanufacture" about a year back-couldnt do it.
I am a big aggro-industrial head so I will give them another shot.
What do you think of Converge?
Hear alot about them but have never heard any of their music.

Like asmox said, Converge is essential listening. Bands can only imitate them and still do not come close to their awesome power. Jane Doe was a truly awe-inspiring record, and still is to this day. Their newest effort No Heroes is also incredible. I wasn't sure if they were ever going to do something at the same level of Jane Doe, and I think now they have. It is different (textural sludginess amidst brutal insanity) but not better or lesser (in my estimation). Jane Doe has one track with sung back-up vocals and is pretty excellent. Otherwise it is the most over the top screaming sonic assault you will ever hear. The music itself is just as grappling.

Oh, and also remember that dillinger has had 3 different singers. The EP with Mike Patton Irony is a Dead Scene is the most singy, and is my personal favorite after Calculating Infinity. Also, you mentioned Cave In : Until your Heart Stops is very heavy, as too is beyond hypothermia a lot less singing than their later albums but they are both great. I prefer Until your heart stops, it is one of my favorite albums of all time. Wasn't sure how much of them you have heard.
