Can anyone provide guidance on what is causing hiss in the Trafomatic Audio Head 2,  I assume that it has to do with noise floor with I have limited technical knowledge.

Here is the jist:

I own the Moon Neo 430HA and have the Trafomatic out on loan.  No hiss at all now or ever with the 430HA, immediate hiss with the Trafomatic.

I have tried different headphones with the same result, Hifiman HE1000, Mr Speakers Ether C, Mcintosh MHP1000.  I have tried different impedance levels and same result, volume adjust does the same (the louder the worse the hiss).

Source is Lumin S1, Kimber XLR cables.  Below are specs to both units, any guidance to educate my limited knowledge would be greatly appreciated:

Out of pure luck I was pulling the XLR input cables out of the Amp and the hiss went away.  I connected RCA cables and voila no more hiss and complete clarity, would have never guessed.

That's bizarre, since one of the advantages of using XLR should be a lower noise floor. Probably something wrong in the design of the input on the amp then.
